Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data the Aimring app (iPhone, Apple Watch and Android) and this website collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain because you deserve to know exactly what happens with your information.

1. Our Commitment

Aimring is a training tool, not an advertising platform. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not share your information with anyone for advertising or marketing. We collect data to make the app work for you.

2. What We Collect

Account and profile

  • Email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Apple or Google
  • Username, display name, club, country, bow style, category, a short bio and an optional profile photo
  • Your role (archer or coach), time zone and app preferences
  • Date of birth and gender, if you enter them, so the app can offer you the competition divisions you are eligible for

Training data

  • Sessions: date, time, distance, round, session type, scores, arrow counts and arrow positions on the target
  • Notes you write or dictate, and voice memos you record and attach to a session
  • Equipment (bows, arrow sets, tuning notes), training fields and locations you name yourself, and calendar events you add

Competitions and seasons

  • Which rounds you plan to attend, the division you will shoot, and the results you log
  • Photos or PDFs of your score sheet that you upload as evidence for a result
  • Tournament and match results, including the names of any guests you add to a match

Health and fitness data

  • Health Connect (Android): only if you turn on “Import from Health Connect” in Settings, Aimring reads your heart rate, and only for the time window of each archery session you log, so your summary can show your heart rate while you shot. It reads no other Health Connect data and never writes to Health Connect
  • Apple Health (iPhone): with your permission, Aimring reads heart rate, active energy, steps and walking distance recorded during a session. It can also save your sessions to Apple Health as Archery workouts
  • Apple Watch: when you start a session on your iPhone, the Aimring watch app records an Archery workout and sends its heart rate, energy, steps and distance to your iPhone
  • Heart-rate sensors: if you connect one (for example Whoop, Garmin, Polar or a chest strap), Aimring uses Bluetooth only to read your heart rate during a session

For each session we store a summary: average, maximum and minimum heart rate, a heart-rate timeline and, from Apple Health or an Apple Watch only, energy, steps and distance. Only you can see it. Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties. It is never used to decide anything about you other than what the app shows you. Health access is optional. You can turn it off at any time in the Health app, Health Connect or your phone's settings, and the rest of Aimring keeps working.

Social data

  • Friends you connect with (mutual, by QR code or by searching for a name or username) and coach–athlete connections
  • Sessions you choose to share, leaderboard totals, and your weekly Streak League points

Device and usage information

  • A push-notification token and your device platform, so we can send the notifications you turn on
  • App version, and when you sign in and use features (for example sessions logged), from the app's own records
  • Messages you send us through the contact form: your name, email address and message

3. Device Permissions

Aimring only asks for a permission when you use the feature that needs it. You can say no or change your mind in your phone's settings, and the rest of the app keeps working.

  • Camera: to scan a friend's QR code, take a profile or share-card photo, or photograph a score sheet
  • Photos: to pick a profile picture, a share-card photo or a score-sheet image. Share-card photos stay on your device and are never uploaded
  • Microphone and speech recognition: to record voice memos and turn your speech into note text. Speech-to-text is provided by your phone's operating system (Apple or Google) under their own privacy terms
  • Calendar (add only): to add competitions you choose to your calendar. Aimring cannot read your calendar
  • Bluetooth: to connect to a heart-rate sensor
  • Health / Health Connect: as described above
  • Notifications: to send the reminders and updates you turn on

We do NOT collect

  • Your location or GPS data. On Android 11 and earlier the system calls Bluetooth scanning a “location” permission, but Aimring never reads your location
  • Your contacts
  • Browsing history, advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data

4. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and secure your account and let you sign in
  • To store your sessions and show your history, statistics, heart-rate data and progress
  • To run the social, coaching, competition, ranking and league features you use
  • To send push notifications you have turned on
  • To send emails about your account and, occasionally, news about Aimring. Every news email has an unsubscribe link
  • To review competition results you submit
  • To answer your messages and give support
  • To keep the service secure, fix bugs and understand which features are used so we can improve them

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on our agreement with you to provide the app, on your consent (for health data, notifications and news emails, which you can withdraw at any time), and on our legitimate interest in keeping Aimring secure and improving it.

5. Who Can See Your Data

  • Only you: your sessions (unless you share them), notes, voice memos, equipment, health and workout data, date of birth, gender and score-sheet uploads
  • Your friends: sessions you choose to share, leaderboard totals and your Streak League points
  • Your coach: if you accept a coach, they can see your sessions, watch a session live, leave notes, and see your competition plans and results
  • Other Aimring users: your public profile (name, username, photo, club, country, bow style and bio, plus your best score if you turn that on), and other users can find you by name or username. In seasons, when you mark yourself as going to a round, your name, club, photo and division appear in that round's list of who is going. If you would rather not appear in these lists, contact us and we will hide you
  • The Aimring team: a small number of people can access account data when needed to run the service, review competition results, answer support requests and keep the service safe

6. Service Providers

We use a small number of trusted providers to run Aimring: secure hosting for our database and file storage, Apple and Google for sign-in and push notifications, and an email-delivery provider. Each one only receives the data it needs to provide its service, is bound by its own privacy terms, and is not allowed to use your data for its own purposes. These providers may process data outside your country. When they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users. If Aimring is ever sold or merged, your data would transfer under this policy, and we would tell you first.

7. Data Storage and Security

Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored on secure servers with strict access controls. Each account can only reach its own records, plus what others have chosen to share with it. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Some data is also kept on your device so the app works offline. It syncs when you reconnect. No system is perfectly secure, but we review our security practices regularly.

8. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all of it is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days: profile, sessions, notes, voice memos, photos, score sheets, equipment, health and workout summaries, competition entries, and friend and coach connections. 9. Children

Aimring is for archers aged 13 and over. If you are under the age of digital consent where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use it. Date of birth and gender are always private to the archer. If you believe a child has given us data without the permission they need, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you, and get a copy in a portable format
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your data, item by item or your whole account, in the app
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent: turn off Health access, notifications or news emails at any time
  • Complain to your local data protection authority

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.
